The Penny Hoarder is Named One of the Fastest-Growing Companies in Tampa Bay
On Thursday, July 27, the Tampa Bay Business Journal hosted its 2017 Fast 50 luncheon at the Bryan Glazer Family JCC in Tampa. The yearly event honors the fastest-growing private businesses in the region.
“Yesterday was lovely,” said Maryann Akinboyewa, PR coordinator at The Penny Hoarder. “The emcee made jokes and kept the event fun. It was also very social; people walked over to other nominees’ tables to say hello to old friends and make new ones.”
The Penny Hoarder, a Taylor Media digital publication, was nominated for the award by a friend of the company. (TBBJ reviews nominations and determines the fastest-growing companies from the lot through revenue verification.) The Fast 50 rankings are based on annual growth over a three-year period.
Nominees weren’t made aware of their place on the list ahead of time. At the event, each one was called up, beginning with No. 50.
Then, it was announced that The Penny Hoarder ranked No. 7!
“Overall, it's a wonderful feeling to be surrounded by the best of the best in the Tampa Bay area,” said Akinboyewa. “We're excited to be ranked No. 7. We view this as an opportunity to continue working hard and living out our mission: to put more money in our readers' pockets. We truly believe in that.”
She continued, “We're nothing without our team or our mission. We're just grateful we get to do the work we love each day.”
This was The Penny Hoarder’s first time being recognized by the TBBJ Fast 50. ”We look forward to participating again next year,” added Akinboyewa.
Congratulations to all the winners!
